	Paint Brush Care Washing Out Emulsion Over newspaper, scrape off any excess paint using a straight edge (an old ruler or the back of a knife.) Push from the top of the bristles towards the end of the bristles. Squeeze out as much paint as you can. Wash the brush under a tap. (You should use cold water.)
